Accessibility at Margate Soul Weekender

Margate Soul Weekender is committed to creating an event that is accessible, inclusive and welcoming for as many guests as possible.

The festival takes place across indoor venues and outdoor areas in Margate, including Margate Old Town, the Harbour and Newgate Lower Promenade. Each site has its own access features, so we aim to provide clear information before the event and practical support during the weekend.

We continue to review access each year, listen to guest feedback and make improvements where possible.

Access Support

Guests with access requirements can apply through the Disabled Access Scheme.

This scheme is designed to support guests with mobility, sensory or additional needs, including those who may require assistance with movement, queuing, medical items or site access.

To apply, please purchase your festival ticket first, complete the access questions at checkout and submit the Access Application Form. Once your application has been reviewed, the team will confirm your access support and release any approved access tickets.

Movement and Distances

Margate Soul Weekender takes place across several key locations in Margate.

Most areas are step-free or set on gentle inclines, but distances between venues may vary. Some routes between festival sites are approximately 0.9 to 1.2 miles, depending on the location and route taken.

A shuttle service will run between key locations for guests who need additional support moving around the festival.

Standing and Queuing

Alternative queuing arrangements are available for guests who need them.

Please speak to the festival team on site or contact us in advance so we can understand your requirements and advise on the most suitable support.

Assistance Dogs

Registered assistance dogs are welcome at all Margate Soul Weekender festival sites.

Guests bringing an assistance dog should contact the team in advance where possible, so we can help with planning and site information.

Medical Needs

Guests may bring prescription medication, medical equipment and food or drink required for medical purposes.

Please keep medication clearly labelled and contact the team before travelling if you need guidance on specific medical items, storage or access arrangements.

Lighting, Sound and Sensory Information

Margate Soul Weekender includes live music, DJ sets, club sessions and outdoor performances.

Some venues may use loud music, lighting effects, flashing lights or strobe lighting. Warnings will be displayed where possible, and guests with sensory concerns are encouraged to contact the team before the event for advice.
